About Us

Welcome to The Hobby Smith, where great customer service is our commitment. We are a full service model railroad store with a large in-store operating layout. Our offerings includes special orders, repairs, DCC installations, consignments, and advice. We offer discounts on Z, N, HO, Marklin & O scale locomotive and rolling stock orders. Our store has a good selection of books, videos, paints and scenery material. We welcome our customers to join in during operation sessions on our in-store layout (see calendar for schedule).

Location & Hours

Located in Portland's historic Hollywood District, we are only 4 1/2 blocks from the Hollywood Max light rail station, five minutes from Downtown Portland, and 18 minutes from the Portland Airport.

If coming via I-84 East or West, use exit #2. If heading West, take exit 2, take a left on Halsey. Then take a right on 39th and stay in the right lane. Go North on 39th and we are on the left side of the street next to Baskin-Robbins.

If heading East, take exit 2. Stay in the middle lane, turn left on 39th. Once you cross over the freeway, get into the right lane. Stay in the right lane and go North on 39th. We are located on the West side of 39th next to Baskin-Robbins.

We are located on NE 39th Ave. in between Hancock St. and Sandy Blvd.
